Lillian Smith: Breaking the Silence screening

Lillian Smith: Breaking the Silence screening

“Lillian Smith was one of the first white southern authors to speak out publicly against the evils of segregation. She was shamed, ridiculed and silenced for her beliefs. She couldn't look away. She never gave up.”

Please join us for a free screening of the documentary film "Lillian Smith: Breaking the Silence," followed by a panel discussion with director Hal Jacobs, Patricia Bell-Scott, Brenda Bynum, and Matthew Teutsch, Director of the Lillian E. Smith Center at Piedmont College. A reception will follow.

Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library is the home to the Lillian Smith papers.

This event is free and open to the public.

Free parking for off-campus visitors is available in the Hull Street Deck.
