SUMMARY:Introduction To Health Sciences Literature
DESCRIPTION:Preparing for a career in the health professions means learning 
 how to find\, evaluate\, and apply reliable evidence. This introductory 
 workshop will help students build foundational research skills by exploring 
 the types of health information\, navigating key library databases\, and 
 developing effective search strategies. Participants will also learn how to 
 evaluate the quality and credibility of information using practical 
 frameworks and discover library services that support academic success 
 throughout their careers. \n\nParticipant Learning Outcomes\n\nBy the end 
 of this workshop\, participants will be able to:\n\n\n	Differentiate 
 between primary\, secondary\, and tertiary health information sources and 
 identify when each is most appropriate to use. \n	Identify and access key 
 library databases for locating health sciences literature\, including 
 PubMed\, CINAHL\, Web of Science\, Cochrane Library\, and PsycINFO. 
 \n	Develop effective database search strategies by identifying key 
 concepts\, using Boolean operators\, applying truncation and phrase 
 searching\, and refining results with filters. \n	Evaluate health 
 information using evidence-based frameworks\, including SIFT\, the 5 Ws   
 How\, and an understanding of the peer-review process. \n	Identify library 
 services and research support available through UGA Libraries\, including 
 research consultations and Ask Us services.\n\n\nThis is Part 1 of a 
 multi-session workshop series.
