LaTeX 101: From First Draft to Dissertation

An introduction and overview of LaTeX for document preparation using the Overleaf editor. The workshop will cover: the motivation and history of LaTeX; Overleaf as a web-based ecosystem vs. local compilation; the basics of the Overleaf interface, the basics of LaTeX syntax, and the types of documents that can be prepared; using BibTeX to manage references and citations; and using the UGA LaTeX templates for writing theses and dissertations. Students will leave well-prepared both to begin their LaTeX journey immediately, as well as to attend any future workshops exploring individual topics in greater depth.
