Fall into Research: What I Wish I Had Known and What I Wish My Students Knew for STEM Graduate School

Graduate school is a different experience for everyone- from what motivates someone to pursue an advanced degree, to how they chose the program, to how they approach classes and research. Graduate school can be challenging- both professionally and personally, and at times can feel isolating or like the goals and metrics of success are ill-defined, at best.  This presentation will cover my path to a PhD in chemistry and professorship, my experiences as a mentor, and lessons learned on what worked, and what I wish I had known ahead of time.

Presented by: Dr. Emily Pentzer from Texas A&M University. Dr. Pentzer is an Associate Professor of Chemistry and Materials Engineering who through her work has taken on promoting women and diversity in STEM as well as running Future Faculty Workshops each summer.
